Kids Don't Float – Free Life Jacket Loaner Program

Helping Keep Bandon's Waterfront Safe for Everyone

The Port of Bandon is proud to partner with MegaCare Insurance LLC to provide free life jackets for residents and visitors enjoying our beautiful waterfront. Through the Kids Don't Float program, families and boaters can borrow life jackets at no cost, helping promote safety while fishing, crabbing, boating, and exploring the Coquille River.

Originally established in Homer, Alaska, in 1996, Kids Don't Float is a community-based water safety initiative designed to help prevent drownings by providing convenient access to life jackets and promoting water safety education.

Free Life Jacket Loaner Stations

Through the generous sponsorship of MegaCare Insurance LLC, the Port of Bandon maintains three convenient life jacket loaner stations:

Port of Bandon Boat Launch Ramp
Port of Bandon Marina
Pullen Pier Fishing Dock

Life jackets are available to borrow free of charge. Simply select a properly fitting life jacket and return it to a loaner station after use so others can enjoy the same benefit.

Life Jacket Donations

Help us keep this important community safety program going! The Port of Bandon and MegaCare Insurance LLC welcome donations of life jackets that are U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) approved.
